From 1st September 2019 Pharmacies may no longer be able to order your repeat prescription from the pharmacy.
You can register online to order your prescriptions, call us or hand in your tear off slip at the Surgery. If you are housebound you can continue to order these via telephone at the Surgery. If you are deemed suitable by the Surgery you may be allowed to order your prescriptions via telephone.
This does not impact patients on dosette boxes.
Requests for repeat prescriptions can be made by phone, in practice or online.
PLEASE CHECK ALL THE ITEMS CAREFULLY TO ENSURE THEY ARE CORRECT WHEN COLLECTING YOUR PRESCRIPTION.
When you need a repeat prescription you should return this slip to the surgery, either by handing it to a receptionist or placing it in the Repeat Prescription box, indicating the items you require. This will then be ready to collect after 2 working days. Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope if you wish your prescription to be posted to you (in which case allow at least one week).
Alternatively, a request can be made by telephone, quoting your computer number and items required or register to order your prescriptions online.
At least once a year you will be asked to make an appointment to have your medication reviewed. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have regarding your medication. At the same time the Health Care Professional will ensure that your medications are still appropriate for your treatment and if necessary make any changes. The Doctor will not be able to continue to prescribe your medications unless you have been seen. A message will be placed on your prescription informing you when you need to make this appointment.
Medication reviews can also be done by our practice pharmacists.
We can now offer you the electronic prescribing service. This is where instead of a paper prescription an electronic version of your prescription is sent directly to your chemist.
If you wish your prescription to be sent electronically you will need to inform the receptionist at the time of ordering. The NHS keep a record of your nominated pharmacy, this can be changed by you at either a pharmacy or with one of our receptionists when you order your prescription.
Please be aware that if you use the electronic prescribing service that:
- Not all items can be sent electronically (controlled drugs, some special items and devices/bandages)
- If you have visited a different pharmacy they may change your nominated pharmacy record. Check your nominated pharmacy when you next order.
